Yes, another compilation from the past: There’s more!
In 2010/2011, as I set about
thinking of the future of my then website at kkomp dot com, I selected a number of the best of my technical-help postings which I had
published and had made available for
display at the time.
I did this because I was thinking ahead: I realised that I couldn’t keep the site going forever, as it was built upon and integrated into a massively over-geeked version of the TwentyTen theme by the WordPress Team. (A bit like/in the same way as my 2nd website at buggerallon dot tv was built upon and integrated into a massively over-geeked version of the TwentyFifteen theme by same WordPress Team. – I’m doing same with this third site; but I’m not going to over-geek it this time.)
The TwentyTen theme was not originally built to be mobile-friendly, and neither was it built with security in mind. I’d added code and plugins to try to make it better, with some success, but everything was starting to go downhill by 2011. I knew that I’d soon have to abandon the site and start again.
I compiled the articles that I’d chosen into an ebook, with the intent of republishing them on my new site ( By the time my new site was ready in 2016, many of the
articles herein were becoming outdated, and Windows XP had become a thing of the past. ) or just publishing the ebook for posterity.
Due to circumstances beyond my control; the conditions I’d imagined for case of republication never came to pass (Even though it did get published momentarily and then withdrawn by myself.) – and the ebook got forgotten as it remained as data on an old hard drive with a number of other .pdf files. Years later that old hard drive was read again and much of its contents archived. Now, in April of 2022, I publish this ebook properly for the first time on my third website.
There may be inaccuracies in some of the material due to its age, and a lot of it may be outdated; but there are some pertinent points and ideas contained therein nevertheless.
