There’s Still Hope..
Distributed computing is a way in which humans can all benefit society as a whole; regardless of people’s hangups, biases, squabbles, illnesses, complexes, phobias, and all the other mundane and not-so-mundane shit that causes us to all but self-destruct as a supposedly “advanced” society. (To my mind the only thing that has advanced is technology. – Other than that we’re still basically primitive savages in many ways.)
We pride ourselves about being on the verge of being able to establish colonies on other planets. – Yet we can’t even look after our home planet. Fortunately it’ll take us some years yet before we leave our solar system and start spreading mayhem throughout the galaxy. – There’s a reason for aliens to breathe a huge sigh of relief! While we solve problems like how to obliterate the Human Race with nuclear fireballs, and how to get the fuck off this planet so that we can make a mess of the whole solar system; let’s at the same time use our computers – while we’re not in the main wasting our lives away playing violent games on them – to solve a few problems that might mean we can have a little less suffering in our excuses for lives.
On a more positive note; there’s a whole universe out there and it’s still sparsely-populated. – Extremely so in fact. – So before we start inventing machines to help us start moving out into it, let’s first solve a few problems closer to home, rather than take them with us.
Let’s Sort It Out..
Join Sharron-Idol and thousands – maybe even millions – of others in the fight against the niggling little things that cause people to die and become ill, by running a program that uses the cycles of your machine’s computing ability that you don’t use to run simulations of the biological folding of microscopic protein structures that could well lead us to a series of breakthroughs in treatments and understanding of various malefic human conditions.
